Helping You Save On Your Dental Care:
With dental insurance, more families can get much-needed preventive care without having to worry about their bank accounts. Our team at Berlin Family Dental is determined to see that you enjoy your dental benefits to the fullest, and to ensure that we can go over your benefits with you and explain what kind of coverage you can expect to receive for specific services. Keep reading below to learn more about the basics of dental insurance.
Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
While dental insurance offers benefits that can help pay for restorative treatments, most plans primarily focus on preventive care. This means that checkups, cleanings, and other preventive services receive the most coverage under a typical plan. The aim is to encourage you to address smaller problems early on, so that both you and your insurance company can avoid the cost of more complex treatments in the future.
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
Each dental insurance plan is structured slightly differently, but most follow this general pattern:
- 80% to 100% coverage for preventive checkups, cleanings, and X-rays.
- 50% to 80% for restorative care. Minor treatments such as fillings usually receive higher coverage than more extensive treatments like tooth extractions.
- No coverage for elective treatments, which typically applies to most cosmetic services.
You can contact your insurance provider to clarify your benefits. We can also help you understand your coverage.
We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-Of-Network Providers
Understanding “in-network” versus “out-of-network” insurance coverage can be confusing. In simple terms, we gladly accept out-of-network providers and will file the necessary claims on your behalf; however, being in-network with your insurance company means you’ll save more money. Please confirm whether we’re part of your insurance carrier’s network before your appointment. While we can work with out-of-network insurances, we’re proud to be a part of these networks:
- Aetna
- Ameritas
- Cigna
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Delta Dental
- GEHA
- Guardian
- Humana
- Lincoln Financial
- MetLife
- Principal
- United Healthcare
- + many more!
